JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:  Under the direction of Assembly Supervisor, the Final Assembler works from engineering drawings and a Bill of Materials to assemble the highest quality conveyors at the lowest possible cost, while meeting departmental performance standards, and customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Prepare and assemble conveyor parts and components to produce finished conveyors according to engineering drawings and Bill of Materials.  

Review requirements of engineering drawings and Bill of Materials for accuracy.

Operate the finished conveyor and inspect and monitor the quality of the finished product to ensure process/product specifications are met.  

Ensure all required spare parts are included with the conveyor for delivery to the customer.

 Assist co-workers and ensure teamwork to meet quality, performance and safety standards.

 Train new employees in the safe and most efficient use of equipment and processes.

 Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.

 Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.  Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

 MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Perform inspection activities and correct errors or omissions in fabrication process.

 Skid conveyors for shipment to customer.

 Perform duties of Final Assembly Painter as required.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:  Requires the use of safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, grinding shield, and welding safety equipment, as needed.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Requires four years of high school and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.  

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as Bills of Materials, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.   Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

 REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:  The employee must possess good mechanical ability and the ability to perform basic calculations to perform assembly work.  The employee must have the ability to operate welding equipment, a shear, a hand brake, and a variety of power and hand tools.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle or touch.  The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee occasionally is required to sit; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; and use foot/feet to operate a machine.  

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision,  and the ability to adjust focus.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee frequently is required to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.  

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, occasionally very loud.
